Funeral Rites Planned for W U Dannelly in St Luke's
Former Childress resident W U Dannelly will have funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at St Luke's Episcopal Church with Dr. Ross Calvin of Clovis, N M officiating. Masonic burial follows at the cemetery under Newberry Funeral Home direction. Pallbearers are local Masons led by C E Morgan and Bill H Newberry. Dannelly, born July 10 1869 in Columbus Tennessee, lived in New Mexico most of life and moved to Clovis two years ago to live with daughter Mrs C E Worrell. He retired from business in 1942 and was father in law to Mrs Loretta Dannelly. Survivors include wife Cora Lee, daughter Mrs FE Worrell of Clovis, son W Dannelly of Los Angeles, grandson Dr J D Worrell of Clovis and two great granddaughters.

Mrs. J. C. Hendrickson received second degree burns to her left arm and hand and minor facial burns after an oven on her stove exploded when she lit a burner with a match. She was treated overnight at Childress General Hospital and released this morning. A relative said the oven had been left on accidentally.

Taipel Formosa Feb 2 An American destroyer escorted 588 refugees from Tachen Island to a Formosa port after Nationalist warships repelled four Communist gunboats. Refugees report another load of evacuees, including 400 plus schoolchildren and Army wives, were taken to Nanki Island then Keelung aboard a landing ship. A second refugee convoy was en route as Communist gunboats tried to intercept but Nationalist ships drove them off.
