In Montreal three men tied to a plot to kidnap and kill Quebec Labor Minister Pierre Laporte are jailed awaiting a coroner’s inquest. Paul Rose Jaques Rose and Francis Simard were found in a 20 by 4 foot tunnel after police traced a flickering light at a supposedly deserted house. Maurice St Pierre of the provincial police said the suspects had been hidden for weeks and fed enough to last longer. Michel Viger was detained but faces no charges yet. Police rented the farmhouse from a finance company two months ago.

Funeral services for Bill Wolf a 50 year old farmer from the Loco Community were conducted at the Wellington Church of Christ with burial in Fairview Cemetery. He was born in Red River County and moved to Loco in 1925 and served on the Wellington School Board and the Childress County ASCS committee.
