Funeral services for Charles E. Johnson 80 former Childress resident were held at 10:30 a.m. in Amarillo with Dr. Clifford Trotter officiating burial in Llano Cemetery He died Sunday Survivors include his wife a daughter a brother and two sisters He moved to Amarillo from Childress in 1952 and was active in Rotary and civic affairs with ties to the J C Penney company early in life

Mrs. May Nixon died aged 85 yesterday. Services will be Friday afternoon at Stephens and Bean Funeral Home in Fresno with burial in Fresno. She came from California two months ago to live with granddaughter Mrs. Ruby Mills of Carey. Born in Georgetown she leaves a son Jim of Mercedes California two sisters Mrs. Laura Bunn of Pauls Valley and Mrs. Drennan Blackwood of Lovington a brother L. B. Ivey of Tulsa 26 grandchildren four great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

Bertram D. Knight 88 of Childress died Sunday in Childress General Hospital. Services at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. James Price and Rev. R. H. Knight. Burial in Childress Cemetery. Knight, a retired Fort Worth and Denver railway clerk, married Gertrude Wilkinson in 1918. Survivors: widow, two sons Joe T. Knight of Albuquerque and William M. Knight of Lubbock, two grandchildren. Pallbearers named.
