Checks go out to city and county governments in first revenue share
About 36 000 checks totaling 2.6 billion dollars were mailed Friday under the Nixon administration five year revenue sharing program. Childress will receive 26108 dollars and the county 22432 dollars as part of the first half of 1972. Treasury officials expect complaints about lower than projected amounts due to a shift from 1966 to 1971 tax data and new formulas based on tax effort population and per capita income. An appeals procedure is being set up and data will be published next month for governments to verify figures.
