Weekend clashes in Cambodia border kill 170 in NVN firefight
American air cavalrymen and airmen fought North Vietnamese troops along a 100 mile border stretch north of Saigon. Rockets and gunships led to 170 enemy deaths while U.S. casualties were three killed and 18 wounded. B 52 bombers delivered over 1000 tons of explosives against base camps near Bu Dop. Several rockets struck Bu Dop camp airstrip, killing six Vietnamese and wounding 12 as troops awaited helicopters. Five rockets also hit the airstrip amid ongoing shelling of the camp.
