Advisory Committee Meeting at Childress School Tonight
The Childress School Advisory Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. in Lamar Elementary School with a representative from the architect firm expected to attend. Separately, James L. Woodard died yesterday at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center after a brief illness. Services are planned tomorrow in Roswell, where he lived since 1975. He was born November 26, 1893 in McDonald County Missouri. He was a retired electrician for the City of Riverside California. Survived by widow Cruza of New Mexico, son Ray Woodard of Oceanside California, daughter Fay Waltermire of Childress, two granddaughters Sandra Smith of Slidell Louisiana and Linda Wood of Childress, two grandsons Phillip and Monte Woodard of Oceanside, eight great-grandchildren, and brother Edward Woodard of Pearblossom California.

Services Monday For George Williams
George Williams 73 of Childress died Saturday in Childress General Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday at Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Price and Rev. Joe S. Allen officiating. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery. Williams born Feb 19 1904 in Childress was a World War II veteran and retired farmer. He was survived by his widow Billie Griffith Williams, two sisters and a brother. Pallbearers included Dick Preston Buddy Wilcoxson Watt Foard Troy Boykin Reuben Arnold Leroy Gates.

Teen drives stolen car through Times Square crowd killing one
A 19 year old Manhattan man Harvey Collins allegedly drove a stolen car along a 42nd Street sidewalk near Times Square killing a 72 year old man from Hotel National and injuring 12 others. Witnesses say the car jumped a curb, struck pedestrians and a fire hydrant before stopping near Seventh Avenue. Police charged Collins with vehicle homicide leaving the scene auto theft and armed robbery.
