In a major Mekong Delta clash, a Viet Cong fighter’s premature shot tipped off U S and South Vietnamese troops triggering a 11 hour battle. Allied forces claimed 235 guerrilla dead, 13 Americans killed and 128 wounded. In separate violence near the Cambodian border civilians suffered several deaths and kidnappings.

Four Indictments by Grand Jury in District Court
Four indictments were returned by the jury in District Court. Doroteo L. Highway Mishap Fatal to Denison Man
John Barrett aged 52 of Denison died at 3 30 a m at Wichita General Hospital from injuries suffered in a car truck trailer crash one and one half miles east of Harold in Wilbarger County at 12 30 a m. Barrett’s car struck a semi trailer driven by James Frank Pierce who was uninjured. Barrett’s body remains at Wichita General Hospital.
