Liberal Demos Oppose Change in 1972 Reform Rules
ADA leaders propose keeping the controversial 1972 delegate guidelines and applying them to all state and local party bodies. They accuse former reform advocates including Robert S. Strauss and Sen. George McGovern of indifference to opening the party. The group argues the guidelines require representation of women, young people and minorities, not a quota, and urges extending the Mikulski Commission through the 1976 convention.
