Chicago market reports ample homegrown stock with oversupplies and low prices across cucumbers tomatoes and celery. Eastern lettuce sold better, while greens and beans remained cheap. cranberries eyed for a balanced season and grapes showed rot reducing demand for lower grades.
Chicago September 13 Coyne Bros. butter and egg department shows marked gains since Dan Coyne Jr took charge. Annual May to May figures reveal a 76 percent increase this year over the same month last year, underscoring strong expansion in the division. Frank and M. E. Fox traveling from Chicago went to York state to inspect the apple market and discuss potential purchases if prices meet expectations. M. KE. Fox of Peter Fox Sons Co. also plans to return next week. Frank Fox left for the south earlier this week.

Davies & Co. departs Chicago for Louisiana to attend a truckers meeting and meet shippers.
The Utah Fruit Exchange opens an Omaha office at City National Bank Building with James M. White as general manager to handle Elberta peaches and Utah fruit distribution. White notes Utah’s improving pack quality and keeping ability, with plans to supply about 1 000 cars of Elbertas this year.
Lewiston Idaho reports a rising apple acreage with 50 to 75 cars expected to ship this year. Orchards receive careful tending and fruit is clean and fungus free. Leading varieties include Snitzenberg, Winerap, Rome Beauty and Jonathan. About 200 cars will ship this season though peaches suffer a 50 percent shortage due to continued rains.
