Peach Storage Costs Hit New York Trade

New York Sept 5 Cold storage peaches hurt the produce trade with estimates from top authorities. Fewer than 100 cars remained in New York storage as favorable storing conditions persisted this year but profits for storers were sharpily reduced. Georgia supplied about two thirds of stored peaches, with North Carolina also short. Other states reported light crops. California and Pennsylvania had modest amounts. Brookhart Fruit Company Offers 50 Percent to Creditors

Cleveland records state Brookhart Fruit Company was placed in bankruptcy August 21 and has offered creditors a cash settlement equal to 60 percent of claims. Under Produce Agency Act Fines in Alabama Case

Hackney and Frank G. Brewer were fined 100 in Birmingham on September 5 after failing to properly account for a shipment from C. W. Andrews of Pensacola. The case, tried in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Alabama, is the eleventh brought under the Produce Agency Act. all but one have resulted in convictions.

New York Sept 5 An involuntary petition in bankruptcy was filed Tuesday against Northern Fruit and Produce Company at 49 East 103rd Street by creditors Richman Samuels Inc 1108 Heller Brothers 830 and Fish Brook 886. The firm run by Joseph Kreleberg and Jacob Fucha showed uncertain assets, with a 30 day credit line and scattered overdue payments. Applications for Borah license due now in Washington

Kansas City dispatch reports H A Spilman of Washington D C, senior marketing specialist for the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, says licenses under the Borah measure are in effect now though the issuance and licensing penalty take effect December 10. He warns dealers and shippers to apply immediately to avoid fines up to 500 dollars plus 25 dollars a day, noting Washington must process 25 000 to 40 000 licenses before December 10.
