New York October 24 creditors of Weisman and Obshatkin fruit and produce dealers of Newark N J held a meeting to plan a thorough investigation and possible criminal prosecution if the firm does not come clean. Critics questioned a $48 000 surplus vanished to only 3700 with calls for daily audits over nine months rather than totals.
New York Oct 24 local trouble on the docks over how broken and recovpered packages should be handled on the Pennsylvania and Erie docks. Rules were set by agreement between the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association contact committee and the railroads and cannot be changed without their sanction.

Two freezes dropping to as low as 13 degrees last week damaged western Nebraska potatoes still in the ground. Estimates show 6 to 40 percent damage by locality with the district averaging 10 to 16 percent. some areas report higher losses while the North Platte Valley irrigated section escaped heavy harm. Despite the damage output this year is projected to exceed last year.

Failure to secure by December 10 may incur 500 dollars penalty plus 25 dollars per day for operating without a license.

J A Von Schuessler who came from Martinsburg West Virginia and started the Fruit Growers Distributing Company has closed his office and canceled contracts after an investigation by the North Central Washington Growers Association. He offered 5 10c a box above market for apples and signed several independents, claiming eastern backers would fund purchases but failed to do so. He notified growers he could not accept fruit and left for the coast, saying he would return once stable funds are secured.
Gatziolis Brothers of Chicago banana dealers filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition. No schedules filed but obligations are believed limited to two banana companies and a railroad. Operated by Thomas and James Gatziolis, with about 20 years in business. blamed on real estate slump and decline of retail fruit trade.
