The National Poultry Butter and Egg Association held its annual convention at the Sherman Hotel in Chicago with over 1,000 delegates. Talks focused on raising dues to 15 per year to fund lobbying and rail freight battles, and on reforming nominating procedures for future officers.
At the National Poultry and Egg Association convention in Chicago, buyers and sellers traded over 100000 cases of storage eggs in the hotel lobby. Walter Bickley of Philadelphia bought 30000 cases from Harry Moltz of Decatur Indiana at around 38 1/3 cents delivered to New York or Philadelphia.
About 40 or 50 shippers and receivers discussed the proposed plan in the Francis Room at the Hotel Sherman in Chicago on Monday afternoon October 13, with continued talks expected on page 7.
Chicago, Oct. 18 William Tr Fitzsimmons of the Atlantic National Bank New York attended the convention and commented that money is the cheapest resource in the country today. He noted active trading and said operators can obtain all the funds they need for the big deals they are making.

Chicago dispatch reports little activity in butter at a convention. Many butter men lingered in the Sherman House corridors but prices were high and storage creamery sellers asked 35 cents, with no buyers at that rate.
Vegetable shipments from southern California over the Southern Pacific lines total 4,409 cars and 1,427 cars over the Santa Fe lines, advancing the season total to 6,836 cars. Daily figures include October 5 with 20 cars, October 6 with 17 cars, October 7 with 14 cars, October 9 with 14 cars, October 10 with 22 cars, and October 11 with 19 cars.
The Packer's estimates show California districts varying in output for the 1916 17 season with Los Angeles county leading in shipping stations and Valencia and Navel crops varying by district. Orange and Ventura counties expect larger tonnages while San Diego faces greater freeze damage. Overall state totals indicate about 45,410 cars for the season ending Oct 31 1916 and upward movement planned in several counties as canker eradication and weather conditions shape the market.
