Activity rises in Verndale potato trade
Verndale Minnesota reports increased early week activity among growers and shippers after a dip last week. The district including Vern dale Bertha Wadena Hewitt Staples sees yields around 100 bushels per acre with red stock paying 30 to 40 cents per cwt and white stock 40 to 50 cents. Chicago market softness did not curb loading, and most potatoes remain small, smooth, and carefully graded.

Grand Rapids Michigan October 12 Last of the Lampard plum crop was sold here this week by Henry Smith for two dollars a bushel. The fruit clung to the trees in good conditions this year allowing harvest to stretch out. Other varieties of plums are now out of the market.
