Florida citrus growers face a likely drop in output with estimates indicating probable production near nine million boxes. Weather, disease, and market pressures weigh on growers and processors as officials assess the blast.
Growers report an annual industry review shows about 5 250 000 boxes of oranges and 3 750 000 boxes of grapefruit. Most districts expect gains with only a few areas delivering less fruit than last season.
The 1914 15 citrus season in Florida is seen as the strongest yet with an estimated 9,000,000 boxes of curve fruit likely to beat last year’s 8,123,349. Grapefruit and orange crops show robust outlooks, while canker control and nursery quarantines shape shipping. Jacksonville reports 83 grapefruit cars moved by Oct 1 with distribution among eastern western and southern markets.

European markets show good demand with sales in London, Liverpool and Glasgow from 3.50 to 4.50 per barrel. Most shipments originate from New York and Boston to Canada and Nova Scotia, with space booked tight until after November. No Nova Scotia or Canada exports via Halifax or Montreal. English cargoes are used for government transport.

Advisory board favors his continuation. the executive committee must decide. W. E. Jones, first vice president, is seen as the likely successor if needed.
The Chicago poultry market shows a continued price decline over the past two weeks. Dealers cite too-high prices and lack of speculative demand, with heavy arrivals and a big stock surplus. They expect demand to rise after prices adjust, targeting 8 to 10 cents. Receipts included 22 cars Monday, with varied prices across fowls, springs, ducks, and geese.
