Spokane Nov 18 shipments of Western box apples last week totaled 3 627 cars, compared with 4 405 the prior week and 2 474 the same week in 1920. Washington state led with 19 675 cars, total box apple group 36 525, Idaho 4 657, Oregon 3 499, Colorado 2 991, while all other sections shipped 665. Barrel apples to date are about half the previous year at 20 750 versus 46 475 cars.

Indictment Returned Against Alex Skilken in Dayton
Dayton Ohio November 18 The Federal Grand Jury returned an indictment against Alex Skilken charged with counterfeiting internal revenue strip stamps for whiskey bottles. Skilken operated as the Dayton Fruit Exchange and was arrested last July with Julius Mairson a printer and Benjamin Wayman another employee who face the same charge. Skilken was jailed briefly after arrest and released under 7500 dollar bond.

Bankrupt petition filed against Dewson Fruit in Pineville Ky
In Covington Ky on November 18 a voluntary petition in bankruptcy was filed in federal court against the Dewson Fruit and Produce Co of Pineville Ky by Cincinnati attorneys acting for the trustee of the S. S. Dewson Company of Cincinnati which closed last month owing more than 50000 to Cincinnati traders. The Pineville firm alleged to owe 14663.24 to the Cincinnati firm. The petition also charges preferred transfers to Bell National Bank of Pineville and transfers to stockholders to hinder creditors. Pineville officers including J G Cotton must appear November 28. J J Castellini named trustee. Cohen Mack Hartwig attorneys.

Nueva Gerona Isle of Pines Nov 18 Grapefruit are going forward to markets in the United States in limited volume. The past season has been very successful for the fruit. Brewers and by using fertilizer freely and cultivating the groves next year the grapefruit growers expect to put a larger volume of August and September fruit on the market. It is the early fruit which is the most profitable in the Isle of Pines and the growers are bending every effort to producing early crops. There is an increased planting of peppers and eggplants the plants being set this month. There will be at least 500 acres of vegetables in the various sections of the island with the heavy shipping season commencing about January 1. The season usually is in full swing by December 15 but rains held back planting this fall.
