Salinas Lettuce Strikers Vote to Go Back to Work
Salinas Calif Nov 6 After two months of strike the Fruit and Veg table Workers Union voted almost two to one early this week to go back to work. The union shed workers will not be discharged and sympathy strikes by teamsters and box makers ended. About 1 500 non union shed workers were employed during the lettuce strike. Morning frosts delayed loadings and quality ranged from fair to ordinary with ribby dirty stock and some generally good stock. Demand was slow and the market weak with best stock in demand. carload shipments show varied prices and heavy movement at fives and related terms.
