A Florida citrus crop report estimates total loss near four million boxes with early fruiting similar to last year. Dry Aug-Sep reduced orange and grapefruit sizes while quality remains strong. Early season sales ranged from 90 cents to $2 a box for oranges and 10 cents to $1.50 for grapefruit, some on-tree deals. Transportation costs and crate material declines impact profitability, with industry awaiting lower freight rates to restore balance.
