Plan to widen Haddock Place shifts Chicago fruit district
Chicago May 14 A plan by major South Water street houses proposes widening Haddock Place between South Water and Lake streets to 80 feet and relocating the streetfronts. The scheme would lower levels on South Water, add on-site switch tracks, and reduce rebuilding costs while keeping the produce trade near the Illinois Central Terminal, though cartage costs would rise.
