Weather favored movement of vegetables in Chicago this week but overall supplies were ample and prices mild. Illinois asparagus led to price declines yet showed solid demand. other items ranged from cucumbers and lettuce to Florida and Louisiana hampers, with varied quality and generally steady or modestly lower prices.

Thompson Fruit Company dividend expected in final form
Ansell J. Chisam, receiver for the Thompson Fruit Company, Springfield, Ill., says Chicago discussions last week indicate a dividend of about 25 percent and likely a final dividend. The concern shows liabilities exceeding $5 million. Lawyer T. Humphrey has represented the receivership. In Chicago, onion markets gained activity with prices steady at 1.40 to 1.50 per crate for yellows and wax varieties as supply remained ample.
