Kennard Deal Unsolved as He Fails to Return

New York butter and egg house A A Kennard & Co faces a $25,000 failure with its head Harry Kennard missing since late May. Creditor Krieger and a committee pursued Kennard’s assets, finding only $2.50 in the store strong box. Kennard returned but offered to pay 15 percent, claiming friends would fund it, yet he refused to disclose the use of egg proceeds. The creditors consider drastic action as Kennard hoped to reopen in New York.

Waldman Eggs Quotation Rates At Chicago Butter Market

Chicago May 7 H Waldman recently moved into the butter and egg business at 934 West Randolph Street and continues hawking high egg prices. On May 1 he cut quotes by 10 cents per case and offered 3 50 per case in town about 18 3 4 cents f o b shipping point. He distributes quotation cards to shippers along railroad lists, but only 150 cases of eggs per week. Rumors link him to a West Side backer. several shippers report prices well above market. Some consignments to Waldman were refused and drafts dishonored, stock moved to other firms. An O K Produce ad was dropped due to complaints from shippers under investigation.

Sicily Lemons Sell In New York Market Quotation

The first Sicily lemon sale of the week moved 20 000 boxes in New York on Tuesday under a five broker committee. Demand was strongest for 360s, 400s softer than last week, with No 1 300s at 2 50 3, No 2 at 2 10 2 50, No 1 300s 2 90 3 40, and No 4 at 2 60 8. Small fruit brought 2 70 to 3 60, poor stock down to 1 80. The committee issued the prices after the sale.

CROP CONDITIONS BY STATE REPORTED BY AGRICULTURE DEPT

The Agriculture Department reports crop conditions as of April 15 across Florida Georgia Alabama Mississippi Louisiana Texas and other areas. Early cabbage and lettuce harvests are under way with Florida reporting 66 percent cabbage and 85 percent lettuce harvested while Texas shows 79 percent cabbage and 71 percent lettuce.

Texas Onion Movement Predicts Higher Prices

Captain Minus of the Co operative Committee reports tighter supplies and rising prices for Texas onions. Stocks in New York show firm yellow stock at 1.33, wax onions weak at 1.25, with 1 600 cars shipped and 1 890 remaining, 600 at Laredo. Receipts through May 11 and into next week forecast support and an imminent price advance.

Louisville concern quits after brief business run

Louisville May 7. The James Andrews Company store at 305 First Street closed this week after a short run. The proprietor, who came from New York, reportedly left town. Shippers fear heavy losses as complaints mount. A 12 year old ran the shop while funds were withdrawn from the German Insurance Bank account. Andrews, 35 to 40, 5'6", 140 pounds, sandy hair and brown eyes, remains missing.

Ege Dealer’s Check Bad Sparks New York Complaints

J Schwalb aege dealer at 134 Ridge Street and Eldridge Street branch faced complaints from People he is buying from Reddea Leon & Co a Park Place commission house received a $123 check last week marked not sufficient funds. He reportedly had only $3 in the bank at the time.

Plans for a new General Sales Agency of America to control major fruit and vegetable auctions across the United States and beyond were disclosed in Sacramento. Whiteside's produce house at Louisville Kentucky was destroyed by fire Monday night. Loss estimated at 15000 dollars covering building and stock of onion sets potatoes and other staples. The plant will be rebuilt and insurance covers the loss.
