Local dealers held many small accounts and Chicago dealers reportedly sold much stock. Manager Barney Rublee previously worked as a salesman. capital about $1,000 came from a traveling man. Excessive drinking is blamed for the trouble. The Saturday visit by the manager led to taking on more load than feasible. Most local accounts were small with little country shippers business pursued, causing further losses.
