Western Michigan fruit outlook improves prospects
Western Michigan fruit prospects look promising with most of the belt still snowbound on March 1. Buds are dormant while sap begins to rise in some varieties. January and February’s cold kept bad development in check, with peach outlook strong except in eastern and southeastern areas and parts of northern Michigan where sub-zero spells damaged buds. Plantings in the belt are in good condition.
