Potato Prices Decline in Chicago Amid Warm Weather
Chicago February 28 potato market slipped as prices fell 10 to 16 cents from a year ago. Carlot operators held firm, willing to take losses, while jobbers resisted. Warm weather and weak green vegetable demand added to uncertainty. Wisconsin whites hit 2.56, Minnesota 2.26 to 2.35, Idaho Russets 2.90 to 3.15, with some higher sales. A humorous aside involves a butcher and a customer over a brass-like sausage.
