Growers agree neither section can exceed half a crop due to excessive rains floods and late development. Shipping would start a week to ten days late with scattered loading by July 1 in Kaw valley and a few cars around the Fourth of July in the ruck district. Flood damage was heaviest in Kaw valley with river overflow the worst since 1915. Major losses occurred from Bonner Springs west to Lawrence Topeka and surrounding shipping points. About 30 percent of acreage may be destroyed in Kaw valley leaving roughly 9 000 acres remaining out of 12 900.
