Fruit Commission Established in Traverse City
The Grand Traverse Fruit Commission was organized to aid handling of fruits in the region. Backed by the local board of trade and area growers, it will cooperate on packing shipping and marketing with a goal to improve Michigan apple grade and pack and to build an export trade. Butter quotes in Elgin cause board rift with Chicago
The Elgin butter quotation committee faced a setback as members overturned a 26c price to 25c by a vote. The move drew protests that Chicago clerks visiting Mondays are driving prices down, keeping a presumed 5 premium low and out of line with eastern markets.

Chicago Trade Saga it is Fair but Prefer Federal Action
Chicago butter egg and poultry trades resisted a local cold storage bill to be voted Monday night, aiming instead for a federal standard under Heyburn. Mayor Harrison warned he could veto if impractical, while traders expect passage locally and advocate nationwide uniform rules for ten to twelve month storage limits and inspection requirements. The group on the committee included Eldridge, Heggie, Oxley, Brown and Schilling. In Fennville Michigan, the July 26 report notes a very light pear crop, damage from last winter freezes to peaches and cherries, but a solid currant and raspberry harvest with raspberries moving for weeks.
