Florida potato crop movement under way across state

Florida potato growers are expanding from coast to coast with a statewide movement under way for the Red Bliss crop. Shipments are leaving the Everglades Arcadia and Ft Myers with over 20 cars last week as South Dade prepares to start. Acreage may reach about 5500 acres but early fall conditions and seed rot may offset gains and limit total shipments versus last year.

Albergotti Brothers license revoked by U S Department

The license of Albergotti Brothers & Co of Norfolk Va was revoked by the Secretary of Agriculture in a December 14 decision for violations of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.
