S A Gerrard, longtime trade figure and head of S A Gerrard Co, died at his home in Cincinnati after a stroke. Born 1860 on a Cherry Grove farm, he built a fruit and vegetable business, led cantaloupe promotion, and helped form Cincinnati Fruit and Produce Credit Association. His firm peaked in 1928 29 with 16 000 carloads and 15 million dollars in gross sales before receivership in 1932 and reorganization in 1934.

A three foot diameter mechanical apple with six illuminated compartments showed uses like cider jelly pie and apple sauce. Raceland La Feb 21 an estimated seventy five percent damage to beets carrots turnips collard greens mustard greens endive and escarole in the territory is reported by the Louisiana Vegetable Company after surveying the recent cold spell.
