Traffic subjects to be discussed at Chicago convention
Chicago December 22 Many important station and traffic topics will be considered at the 16th annual convention of the American Fruit and Vegetable Shippers Association in Chicago January 15 Palmer House according to Ed Briggs secretary. Lower passenger rates and freight rate adjustments will be debated along with refrigeration rate levels pooling of refrigerator cars routing via the shortest line and other co ordination of transportation issues. The meeting will also cover water carrier rate differentials government ownership and tariff simplification with railroads to provide free tariffs.

Elmer G Oakes vice president of the C H Robinson Company died at his Minneapolis home after a month long illness. Born in Saint Paul, he joined the firm as its second employee and rose to vice president by 1926. He left behind his wife and several siblings, with funeral services held at Trinity Baptist Church and burial in Oakland Cemetery, St Paul.

Los Angeles reports the Imperial Valley endured its first killing frost of the season with 28 degrees. Peas left on vines were destroyed while most of the fall harvest was already picked. Pea shipments are halted until spring, but other crops escaped damage and cool nights may aid the lettuce emerging crop.
