Banana Distributing Co to discontinue operations in 1928

In New Orleans the Banana Distributing Company announces it will discontinue effective January 1. The Cayamel Fruit Company and the Standard Fruit Steamship Company will market their own fruit, while the Southern Banana Corporation of Galveston joins the new arrangements. Minnesota Potato Growers and Shippers Form Association

Minneapolis Minn December 21 The Minnesota Potato Growers and Shippers Association formed as a voluntary group of state growers and shippers to advance the potato industry. The 400 attendees at the Nicollet Hotel meeting pledged cooperation with the national organization and committees remained in session late Wednesday night.

Checks Signed by Earl Carr Charged With No Funds

Detroit December 21 a Detroit bank returned a $25 check signed by Earl Carr as no funds. Carr linked to Lovell H Turnbull Co and claimed to have worked for a Chicago firm. He traveled Michigan fruit belt with blank checks then altered to a bank in Anna Illinois, which reported no account.

Banana Strike Settled Says Report From Bogota

An Associated Press dispatch from Bogota Colombia reports the DADRA growing regions settled the recent banana strike. Plantations resume cutting and bananas are transported by trains guarded by troops. The death of Colombian Communist leader Alberto Castrillon, after a clash between troops and strikers in Seville, was announced today. Castrillon had attended the Moscow Communist conference.
