Chicago Eggs Market Faces Warm Weather Pressure
In Chicago on August 8 the egg market showed mixed results as warm weather depresses receipts. Northern suppliers from Wisconsin and Minnesota yielded better quality than southern stock, with exports focusing on butter and process foods. Time firsts at 20 cents, firsts 18 and a half, ordinary firsts 16 to 15 and extra creamery values at 21 cents for creamery, while demand remained cautious and storage purchases predominated.

Northwestern Fruit Tends Expand to Ontario via Spokane Express
A. M. Hathaway of the Western Express Co reports Spokane commission houses sending fruit to Canadian Pacific points as far east as Ontario. New express rates from Spokane starting March 30 cut fruit rates about 30 percent, boosting orders from merchants in towns previously not buying fruit. Last year Spokane office opened in July, making year-to-year comparisons unreliable, but fruit shippers now show markedly increased business through the company.

Dispute Over Contract Clause To Be Settled In Court
The California Orange Growers Exchange sues California Pine Box and Lumber Co for 610,692.04 overcharges on shock and loading strips. The core issue is contract wording on price adjustment if materials sold below contract price before expiry. The September 1907 contract allowed benefit from lower prices. the box company argues benefit only when decline occurs. Case expected in September, with industry impact if large claims prevail.

Northwest apple crop outlook and market split
Hood River reports estimate 85 percent of normal for bearing orchards with new acreage lifting total yield to about 200 000 to 240 000 boxes. Much goes to eastern and European markets, with coast and Orient markets also planned. Outlook for Pacific Northwest includes strong potential despite cold pollen loss. Yakima and Wenatchee cited for big crops. Also brief notes on grape receipts in Chicago and Wisconsin State Horticultural Society meeting at Sturgeon Bay August 26-27.
