Atlanta August 4 The McGill firm tied to Ed gar O Oetgen the produce crook is overquoting the market and taking goods from Florida. They quoted 4 4.50 on tomatoes 2 73 on peppers and paid crates losses of 1 per crate. A Yamato Florida shipper was told to pay 2 for 50 crates of fancy tomatoes and drafts through Lowry National Bank. The draft for 100 went unpaid and tomatoes remain unsettled.

Examiner's Report on New York Delivery Victory for Shipp

Apple Trade Talks Move Northwest Convention Aftermath

Northwest apple dealers, in Seattle last week, urge shipping only extra fancy and fancy apples, keeping C grade at home amid ample supply. Sales at the convention may total 200 to 250 cars with low early prices to spur demand. Delegates toured Hood River and White Salmon Underwood districts, and Portland hosted dinners and tours before departures for Oregon and California fruit districts.

Lower orange prices pull New York market weekly

The week saw demand falter early with prices easing on California lemons and Porto Rican fruits. By midweek demand steadied and prices fluctuated, with best oranges and lemons moving at varied rates while Porto Rican pineapple and grapefruit showed declines and slow sales.

Local Potato Demand Lighter in Chicago

Chicago August 4. The strike tied up transit causing weaker potato demand. Prices stayed low as growers paused digging due to poor shipping points. Minnesota Early Ohios fetched 1 to 1.10 dollars per sack while Kaw Valley Irish Cobbler sold around 1.10 to 1.20 dollars and Virginia No1 Irish Cobbler 2.75 dollars per barrel.

Canadian apple crop estimated at 3 573 820 barrels

The report estimates the combined apple yield for five provinces at 3 573 820 barrels, with British Columbia foreseeing 70 80 percent of 1921 for summer and fall varieties and Western Ontario about 25 percent heavier than last year. Kaw Valley Potato Shipments Fall as Prices Hold

Kansas City reports Kaw Valley potato shipments dwindling to about ten cars daily. Growers cling to prices of 90 cents for cobblers and 65 cents for Early O hips amid light digging and cautious demand. In Jacksonville, a bankruptcy hearing for J B Mixon is set for August 23 in the U S District Court, with assets totaling $2,500 in insurance policy, $7,400 unsecured and $1,960 secured.

Commission Merchants Must Take Out Gov't. $50 Broker's License

New York August 4. Commission merchants must obtain the government brokers license costing 50 dollars. The license, created near war’s end, caused broad debate as “commission merchants” were deemed brokers and required licensing. Past noncompliance led to back dues plus penalties. Now all New York commission merchants operate under the Brokers $50 License. The latest Washington ruling confirms the initial decision.

Intermediate States Forecast for Commercial Onion Crop

The United States Department of Agriculture estimates 6 752 cars of 500 bushels each for seven intermediate states: New Jersey leads with 1 613 cars, then Washington 1 566, Texas 1 092, Iowa 1 062, Kentucky 609, Virginia 1 980, and Maryland 260. Total forecast for both intermediate and early onions is 15 605 cars.
