Shatter Calif April 9 Growing weather favors Kern county potatoes with log shipments to coastal markets expected from the Edison district by mid next week. Carrot shipments in bags follow within days but little movement before April 16. The Wasco district crop should open May 6 to 10. County estimates total 20 000 to 21 000 acres, about 4 000 in Edison. Commissioner Burtch says acreage is larger than first forecast.

At a Chicago meeting the California Growers and Shippers Protective League and the California Grape Growers and Shippers Association secured approval for lower minimum weights on deciduous fresh fruits for eastern shipments.
