The Chicago Democratic Party faces a crisis as Marked by internal power struggles. Supporters fear Mayor Harrison aims to a fourth term, sidelining regular leaders and using the traction issue to dominate the county campaign. Robert E Burke remains a central, divisive figure shaping the spring race.
The Jewish community in Chicago adopted resolutions expressing gratitude to the national government for its stance on Roumanian persecution. No mention was made of city administration this time. local remarks will follow later.
A quoted assertion that Robert EB Burke sulked over the campaign is dismissed as a mistake. The informants insist Burke has been eliminated from consideration and is no longer active in the race.

The Chicago School Board plans expanded evening schooling with at least six new courses including household arts typewriting stenography bookkeeping commercial law and mechanical drawing. A classification plan for night school pupils was discussed and a committee was appointed to study conditions and report a plan to the superintendent. Dr T N Jamieson a Chicago druggist and Republican organizer is profiled at length noting his rise from Ontario to Chicago and leadership roles.
The Sans Souci Park Republican demonstration credits I T N Jamieson as organizer. Dr Jamieson receives praise from Republican leaders and Congressman Manny for his efforts and for the opening Cook County campaign rally.
Local Illinois leaders discuss political strategy focusing on antiimperialism as a past issue and unite Democrats around opposing trusts. The speaker quips that antiimperialists are nonexistent and asserts the trust issue dominates the current fight.
Chairman John P. Hopkins of the Democratic State Central Committee rejected claims of inertia in the party. He said without statewide effort there would be no campaign and tickets in many counties, but the situation has improved and Democratic prospects look brighter. He noted the county Democrats focus on the trusts and tariff as central issues.
