City milk depots plan to aid poor buyers
Assistants to Corporation Counsel Ettelson began work on an ordinance empowering Health Commissioner Robertson to set up three municipal milk stations to sell milk at not over 11 cents a quart. If lawn restrictions block the plan emergency legislation would be sought during the legislative session. Stations would be on the North, West and South sides near railways for pasteurizing and bottling and groceries would supply distribution. Dealers could take a 1 cent per quart profit. Patrons of large dealers pay 14 cents a quart today while some small dealers charge 15 cents.
