Large Volume of Tax Complaints Expected This Year

Chief Clerk Stephen D. Griffin says the board of review will receive thirty thousand or more tax complaints in the coming weeks as a quadrennial realty valuation year drives a surge in real estate protests. About half are personal property. hearings start around July 15. A 15 000 name suspect list is prepared and 160 000 assessments were entered this year with an expected 10 percent complaint rate.
