Tropkins introduces bill to raise Panama Canal funding limit
United States Senator Albert J Tropkins in the Senate Tuesday urged an amendment to the Spooner act to boost the Panama Canal financing from 135 million to 500 million dollars. The Senate appropriations committee reports total expenditures already at 179 million, including 40 million paid to the French Canal Company. Hopkins said a final cost under 350 million is possible, but a wide margin is prudent.
