Cheyenne Letter Attacks Food Destruction Rumor
A mocked New York letter dated June 26 1889 accuses William Wearisome Pecksniff of wrecking Cheyenne dining life with diary extracts from 1882 to 1889. The spoof piece claims unimpeachable testimony and previews further affidavits to prove a food crisis engineered by a famed gastronomy critic.

Carbon County Delegates Vote In Straight Ticket
In Carbon county the Republicans and Democrats failed to fuse for a joint ticket. Both parties held conventions and the Republicans abandoned fusion, nominating a straight ticket: J. C. Davis, C. W Burdick, C. L. Wagner, George Ferrie, G. C. Smith, R. C. Butler, William Strobridge, J. A. Casebeer. Indications point to a large majority for the ticket. A partisan dog owned by J. F. Jenkins has been tearing up the Leader since the Peck letters appeared.
