In a rain disrupted meeting at Keefe hall, Carey and J. M. Carey and J. M. Carey spoke to Wyoming Republicans. Hon. J. M. Carey praised statehood progress and urged a bold honest campaign. Judge Carey urged unity, defending the Republican record and calling out Democratic tactics.

A bridge east of Medicine Bow caught fire on Tuesday night. A freight train at twenty mph rushed onto the burning structure, smashing cars and wrecking an engine. Several cars burned and the track torn up over 200 feet. Engines and part of the train lie in the gulch. origin of the fire unknown but likely from passing locomotive sparks.
Secretary Meldrum reports a $30,000 federal appropriation to cover the costs of the constitutional convention and the elections to admit Wyoming as a state. Funds earmarked for paying convention members, election staff, judges, clerks, canvassers, poll books, and related expenses will be distributed to counties and individuals as vouchers are presented. The piece lauds Republican support and frames the grant as a bridal gift to Miss Wyoming.
The Nashville Republican convention opened with a large turnout and fewer colored delegates. He warned Natrona County would yield a 300 vote Republican majority in September if more candidates like him are sent.
Casper Wyoming July 31 report says at a Wednesday meeting chairman C C Wright was asked to account for 300 dollars from a US senator candidate and 130 dollars from the state committee to carry Natrona election work. He resigned as chairman after failing to explain the funds. Wright had visited Cheyenne and met with prominent democrats. question arises who is the wealthy aspirant behind the boodle early in the canvass.
A Wyoming real estate aspiring man raised as a Republican joined a Democratic Club to study their code. He was quickly identified as an intruder and hustled out by the club’s guards, with the county sheriff assisting. He now declares himself cured of Democratic leanings.
Work advances on the Utah & Northern line with widening planned and broad gauge trains expected by October 1. The route through Bear River canyon grades well and snow will not hinder traffic, plus a 30 mile length reduction enhances lumber shipments from the Sound, marking a major railway shift for the city this year.
H. L. Reed hauled 26,845 pounds of wool from the Emma ranch to Lusk for shipment to Boston on Friday. Wilson Brothers shipped 17,500 pounds the same day. They secured a lower rate than last year due to competition from Burlin and Missouri rail lines, with Boston rates far cheaper than Chicago for unknown reasons.
The Albany County Board of County Commissioners advertises for bids to issue bonds totaling 125000 dollars to fund floating indebtedness. Interest will be at a rate not exceeding 6 percent.
