Eighteen Dollars Per Ounce Pact Forms Deadwood Trade
At a June 28 meeting of Deadwood business men the Black Hills citizens signed an agreement to value gold dust at eighteen dollars per ounce for circulating currency from July 1 1877. Liabilities contracted before July 1 would be paid at twenty dollars per ounce unless a different agreement is made.
