Old Dynamite Cap Destroys Fingers

A 11 year old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Bert Sanford, living on Beaver creek, was injured when a dynamite cap exploded in his hand. He had found the cap days earlier in Spring canyon and kept it, lighting a match to it while visiting his grandfather. The blast necessitated amputation of the right thumb and first two fingers at Douglas hospital. He is reported to be recovering.

Sheep Industry Decline Reported in Utah War Effects

In Utah at East Lake City on September 28, B. Stewart secretary of the Utah Woolgrowers association said the war has disrupted sheep farming. A shortage of trained herders forces many sheepmen to sell flocks as draft calls pull men into service, signaling a major decrease in sheep raising next year.
