He returned to the U S side to visit his wife and was jailed for holding up two border patrol members. Shields then crossed into Mexico with his armament and was welcomed by rebels who made him captain of a barefooted company.

Big Braze Hotel Fire Sends Hundreds Flee

Fire at the Braze hotel in Buffalo New York broke out just after midnight. The top floor ignited first and within minutes two upper floors were ablaze prompting quick alarms. All 230 guests escaped from the blaze which started in an adjoining building. Some men failed to meet obligations as they headed the other way.

General Mine Strike Called in Colorado

Gunmen and rivals clash on Broadway in daylight duel

In Manhattan a shooting erupted amid a Democratic primary fight in the Fifteenth assembly district. Four men were arrested for felonious assault and weapons violations after a gun battle between factions linked to the Jack Shrovet crew and the Haideen Dusters and Hose Gauls.
