A restless man pushes to confront former President Roosevelt at Island Park Fargo ND on September 5 requesting who pays the trip expenses. Roosevelt calls the question impertinent yet offers to reveal party expenses while the large Labor Day crowd watches.
Chattanooga Tennessee reports charges against Joseph M. Choate former U S ambassador to Great Britain for alleged violation of the American Bar Association constitution and a petition that he be expelled presented to the association and referred to the Committee on Grievances. Watts of New York represented the case in this city.
Rahtabula Ohio September 5 A buggy wreck on the Lake Shore line leaves a horse dead and a youth named Minor eighteen wedged on the engine pilot He climbs into the cab and voices his anger at the engineer insisting the engine had no headgear The locomotive slows to let him off and the boy is unhurt
President Taft spoke at a conservation congress in Minneapolis and again at the Minnesota State Fair, urging practical action and adherence to constitutional limits. He defended states’ powers against New Nationalism, promised specific remedies, and drew loud applause from thousands including cheers for Roosevelt.
Boston, Sept. 6 Claude Graham White, the Jungfish aviator, challenges naval men to a test flight. He proposes allowing battleships to fire on him while he drops a bomb in return, replying to Rear Admiral Bowles who doubted airpower. White vows to prove aircraft can deter and strike, even promising to carry dynamite if necessary.
Boston reports an apparition claim by Rev Frederick Wiggin of Unity Church saying Professor William James, the noted psychologist, has communicated from beyond the grave. Overnight a village woke to a murder scene as a father and two others were found dead at a cottage south of the settlement. Neighbors reported hearing a child's cries before officers arrived to discover a grievously injured boy and a severely damaged interior. Police investigate possible assailant.

A three year old girl of Mr and Mrs Lafe Hamilton died from clothing catching fire while playing near a ranch in South Beaver country, New Castle. A younger brother tried to smother the flames but the child died after hours of suffering near midnight.

Pittsburg, Sept 5. A swarm of millions of grasshoppers fills the city, driving residents and officials from offices and crowding atop tall buildings. The Oliver building reports grasshoppers on roofs and ledges, with observers noting the pest invasion disrupts daily routines and tall towers.
