Madison Wisconsin October 29 Senator La Follette publicly accepts Cannon's duel threat and calls for a political death struggle. He accuses Cannon of Republican ties to Tammany while defending progressives as insurgents seeking an open, untrammeled ballot against Cannon's rising influence in Congress.
Three boys aged 11 and 8 9 were taken into custody after placing a heap of heap on street car tracks during Halloween. Police chief warned the youths and released them to their homes after a fatherly lecture.

James McMahon pleaded guilty in a Kansas City district court to the murder of his two sisters Misa Rove McMahon and Mrs Alonzo Van Royen and his brother in law Alonzo Van Royen. Washington reports General James M. Ashton, a Tacoma lawyer, says Edward N. Barrill has retained counsel against Dr. Cook. Ashton says he paid travel expenses for Barrill and Printz to Tacoma to testify, and that General Hubbard also engaged him. Barrill is described as a hard working mountain guide willing to fight.
