In Omaha five thousand sugar orders for Nebraska Wyoming Colorado and South Dakota were canceled by a wholesale firm. An additional one thousand orders remain unfilled. Restaurants now serve only one lump of sugar with coffee. In Washington contracts were made between Louisiana sugar growers and American Sugar Refining for 240 million pounds of raw sugar at six and a half cents a pound with a later drop to five and a half cents. The Food Administration announced the deal, noting wholesale prices and distribution plans to New York Philadelphia and Boston. Ships will move to supply the New York area with refined sugar, and refiners paid about twelve million dollars for the 266 million pounds.
