Henry Schroder 52 of Chicago shot and killed his 3 year old daughter Ruth Taylor in Spokane and then killed himself. He left a letter saying he punished his wife and those involved and would die by his own hand. Mrs Taylor feared he would harm others seeking his wife.
New York reports Wellman and chief engineer Vaniman will try again to cross the Atlantic by airship next summer likely starting in August. They will work on a redesigned craft after lessons from the America voyage, aiming for a safer, larger ship capable of the Europe crossing.

Five women wearing hobble skirts were carried upstairs to attend a party at Carl Schmidt s residence in Chicago. The host, distressed by the impractical attire, arranged the lifts since the women could not climb steps. The event was declared a success once all guests arrived.
The French liner Louisiana ashore on Sombrero reef during a hurricane. Of 347 passengers and 93 crew, 200 were rescued by the revenue cutter Forward. Rescued travelers reached Key West today with vivid accounts of the disaster. Forward to return for remaining survivors.

Washington reports new methods by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to handle land sales. They say the Indians will gain at least sixty thousand dollars more per year under the revised system. Purchasers pay deposits as land patents are approved, with funds credited to the Indians instead of being delayed for months.
