In Ont Sep 14 prison officials uncovered a store of nitro glycerine shotguns and ammunition after tearing into penitentiary walls amid fears of a planned escape. Authorities say the plot included harming guards and blowing up the prison and an investigation is ongoing with prisoners held in solitary confinement.
Leavenworth Kansas Oct ... Frank Be Creller was found guilty of counterfeiting while confined in federal custody until the judge John G Pollock orders. The case concerns charges brought by state Tribune authorities and Creller faces further proceedings in the federal system.
London reports Irish Self-Determination League officials respond to American criticism of Lord Mayor MacSwineys sixty day fast. They deny nourishment is being taken and refuse to guess at his survival, noting uncertainty about timing and potential visits to his bedside.
United States Senator Wm S Kenyon of Iowa campaigned for Warren G Harding criticizing Wilsons record and the league of nations. William W. Clawson a horse trader formerly of Cheyenne was acquitted in Denver of assault with intent to murder Jacob Zuckermann brother of Joseph Zuckermann along with the earlier acquittal for murder of Joseph Zuckermann The four Zuckermans were shot after a dispute over a horse trade
A Cameron Texas cotton compress and mill burned for about 1 000 000 dollars with incendiary origin per a Texas Fire Insurance report. Other fires hit a J B Jamison gin in Wichita Falls and gins at Lavaca and Vian Arkansas amid raider threats. Evidence of motive varied and some sites resumed operations under guard.
The Scottish Rite Cathedral project progresses with a contract awarded to begin work at once. Archibald Allison oversees foundation efforts as the site expands on Capitol Avenue and Twentieth Street in Cheyenne. A 20,928 square foot ground area now includes a 23 foot strip added from Dr. G P Johnston. The new stone edifice will cover most of the lot, replacing the old building which has been vacated to be demolished.
