Shoshoni to pay judgment to save Boysen dam

Convict Gang Arrives For Road Work Near Cheyenne

Three convicts from the Rawlins state penitentiary arrived in Laramie county under Guard Cusick to work on the granite road near Cheyenne. They were lodged in the county jail and will be sent to Granite Canon to begin work on the canon road. The project aims to remove a large granite hill over about two months, after which travel will be available. Guard Cusick will oversee the group until a camp is organized and a penitentiary officer arrives.

One German U boat carries out Nantucket raid

Newport R I Oct 9 The wholesale German raid on foreign shipping south of Nantucket Light ship was carried out by a single submarine. Rear Admiral Gleaves reported that only one raider was involved and that the U boat, likely German U-53, sailed from Newport after calling there.
