Steel strike dull in Pittsburg area as plants stay open

Conditions in the Pittsburg area steel strike showed little change with no new plants starting up and no major additions to workers at Donora Monessen after two weeks idle. Carnegie plants in the district remained open and workers slowly returned to jobs while local labor leaders discussed the situation behind closed doors. Police and officials faced criticism as the potential for a large strike loomed. In Chicago raids on agitators followed by martial law in East Chicago and Indiana Harbor. 2600 troops were in control.

King Victor Emmanuel Ratifies German Austrian Treaties

Rome dispatch reports King Victor Emmanuel I has ratified the German and Austrian peace treaties by decree. Each decree includes an article authorizing full government execution of the treaty and a second article directing submission to parliament for conversion into law.

Cheyenne Loses Military Police Guard
