President Wilson was driving in the southeast part of the city when his car struck Robert Crawford a 15 year old messenger boy. The incident happened as Wilson returned to the White House after a long ride through Maryland. Crawford was slightly bruised about the knees and received brief medical attention.
New York reports that Hans Schmidt faces an insanity inquiry after a coroner’s jury found him responsible for Anna Amluler’s death. Dr. A B Diefendorf will test Schmidt’s sanity in New Haven, with results to be reviewed by psychiatrists and then Attorney Whitman. If sane, the case advances to a grand jury. if insane, Schmidt is sent to Matteawan State Hospital. The trial may be deferred until November due to court congestion.
Hundreds of youngsters flocked to the Leader office for Atlas theater tickets yesterday. The afternoon featured films, praised by youths and teachers, and promises a bigger event next weekend with the Waterloo film and a prize essay contest for students under high school.
