Former Rabbi Held on Bootlegging Charge

Lazarus Lehrer, former rabbi of the Jewish synagogue, was arrested at 1621 Pioneer avenue after buying and selling liquor. Officer Jim Brewer seized the bottle and charged him with illegal sale. Former Major of 151 Cavalry Made General

Lieut. Col. James G. Marberd formerly major of the First cavalry now at Fort Russell has been promoted to brigadier general with Pershing in France. He served at Monterey and Douglas before attending war college and going to France with Pershing on the general staff. Other nominations for brigadiers were presented by President Wilson in the senate including W. W. Atterbury for the national army and several colonels across adjutant general, quartermaster, engineer and other corps.
